Fillings

Fillings
Fillings are used to fill cavities, small holes in teeth caused by dental decay. They can also repair broken teeth and restore eroded teeth.
Different types of materials can be used to fill teeth. Once silver-colored amalgam fillings were the most common option. But today, people are opting for resin composite fillings which match the color of the teeth and are, therefore, more cosmetically appealing.
The procedure used to install a filling involves numbing the gums around the affected tooth with a local anesthetic. Once the area is numbed, the decayed area of the tooth is removed. The tooth is cleaned, washed, and dried, and the filling is inserted.
Most people will get a filling at least once in their lifetime. It is an effective way to restore eroded teeth and keep decay from spreading.
