Root Canals

Root Canals
A root canal may be necessary if a tooth is infected or if there is significant pupal damage in the nerves of the roots which is typically caused by a bad crack of cavity. These conditions allow bacteria to enter the pulp surrounding the tooth resulting in more significant damage.
Many people see a root canal as a painful procedure, but it can be quite simple and routine. Anesthetics will be administered to dull pain. Then the dentist will remove the infected area. A material is then put in place to seal the canal and a restoration is used to cover the opening on top of the tooth.
